The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) released a statement today in support of President Trump’s newly announced $4.9 billion pocket rescissions package. The measure targets what the administration calls wasteful foreign aid and funding for international organizations that do not align with America First priorities.

Greg Sindelar, Interim President and CEO of AFPI, said, “We are glad to see this decisive action by the Trump Administration that aims to save taxpayers nearly $5 billion by rescinding wasteful foreign aid and woke international organization funding that violates America First priorities. This rescission is the latest in the President’s long track record of restoring accountability to Washington, ending wasteful spending and foreign aid that conflicts with American values, and putting the American taxpayers first. This package reinforces a crucial pillar of the America First Agenda: that taxpayer money should only support institutions and efforts that align with America First principles.”

Pocket rescissions are used by the executive branch as a way to address waste, fraud, and abuse within government spending. The new proposal follows previous efforts including a $9 billion rescissions package approved by Congress and $3 billion in savings announced earlier in 2025. Over the next decade, these measures are expected to generate more than $117 billion in savings for taxpayers.

Additionally, these actions supplement larger cost-saving legislation such as the One Big Beautiful Bill, which has already produced $1.5 trillion in mandatory federal savings since its passage by lawmakers who support America First policies.
