The Trump Administration has issued an executive order titled “Enabling Competition in the Commercial Space Industry,” aiming to reduce regulations that affect commercial space exploration. The order targets rules such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which officials say have limited growth in science, innovation, commerce, and infrastructure.
David Williams, President of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA), commented on the announcement: “The executive order on commercial flight is yet another positive addition to the series of deregulatory efforts by this administration. NEPA has been holding back the country’s ability to build or innovate in different sectors of the economy. These range from energy production and construction, to space exploration. This exciting and fast-growing industry will push the boundaries of human exploration of outer space. The Trump Administration is making the right call by taking proactive action that will allow this endeavor with exciting new possibilities to flourish.
“TPA applauds the Administration’s decision to revise innovation-killing regulations and to foster scientific innovation by allowing the private sector to operate without the heavy hand of government holding it back.”
The Taxpayers Protection Alliance is a Washington D.C.-based nonprofit organization founded in 2011. It advocates for government transparency by educating the public through research, investigative reporting, and analysis about how taxation and spending affect citizens.
