Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, has expressed concerns regarding the recent attack on the National Guard in Washington, D.C. He attributes this incident to what he describes as inadequate migrant vetting, which he believes has allowed dangerous individuals to enter the United States. Cortes made these remarks on X, emphasizing what he perceives as persistent federal shortcomings in migration screening.
“Two American families are shattered with grief, right into Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Cortes. “Why? Because Biden (& feckless Republicans) invited a mass migration of unvetted Jihadis into America! I’ve been warning about these risks for years.”
According to Cortes’s video commentary, mass Afghan migration was not part of the original U.S. mission in Afghanistan. He argues that significant resources were expended before tens of thousands of men arrived without proper vetting, linking this issue to the recent attack in Washington, D.C.
The California Department of Social Services Refugee Programs Bureau has documented substantial Afghan resettlement across various counties since 2021. The bureau’s county-level data tracks arrivals, placement patterns, and program participation, illustrating localized impacts following post-evacuation migration.
The Department of Homeland Security reports that over 88,000 Afghan nationals were relocated to the United States under Operation Allies Welcome. Federal documentation outlines the screening and processing steps undertaken during this relocation effort, highlighting the scale of Afghan resettlement programs.
