Family Research Council (FRC) marked the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization by hosting a broadcast titled “Lift Up Life: A Day of Prayer and Fasting for Life.” The event is accessible on the Stand Firm app and at LiftUpLifeDay.com.
Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council, explained the motivation behind hosting the broadcast. “As chemical abortion continues to take innocent lives and put women at risk, this is a moment for urgent, hope-filled prayer and unified action,” said Perkins. He criticized policies implemented during President Biden’s term that expanded access to mifepristone, stating that these policies removed critical safeguards for women. Perkins cited research indicating that 1 in 10 women who take mifepristone face serious medical complications and noted that chemical abortions account for at least 63% of all abortions in the United States. He called for reversing these policies to reinstate protections valuing both mothers and unborn children.
The event featured several notable figures including David Benham from Cities4Life, Jason Benham from Benham Companies, David Bereit from Life Leadership Conference, Craig DeRoche from Family Policy Alliance, John Ensor from PassionLife, Representatives Andy Harris (R-MD-01) and Mark Harris (R-NC-08), Jack Hibbs from Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Phil Hopper from Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit, MO, Bishop Vincent Mathews from Tabernacle Church in Southaven, MS, Bunni Pounds from Christians Engaged, Mayra Rodriguez as a global pro-life activist, and Mary Szoch from Family Research Council.
The broadcast aims to encourage prayer and fasting while addressing concerns about current abortion practices in the United States.
