Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Tennessee’s policy represents a significant victory for child protection and judicial sanity. The statement was made on X.
“PROTECT CHILDREN, Respect the Rule of Law,” said Cortes. “Tennessee shows the way…Supreme Court affirms… My new article on the huge victory for children, common sense, and judicial sanity!”
In June 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s Senate Bill 1, which allows the state to restrict gender-affirming medical care for minors. The court ruled that such laws do not violate constitutional equal protection. According to Reuters, the 6-3 decision marked a significant victory for Tennessee and set a precedent for state-level authority over child protection policy in medical care.
A Marquette Law School poll from June 2025 found that 62 percent of Americans supported Tennessee’s child protection law restricting gender-affirming care for minors, while 28 percent were opposed. According to Marquette’s faculty blog, support was strongest among conservatives and much lower among Democrats.
Marquette polling analysis showed that support for similar child protection laws varied by state, with 45 percent support in states without such bans and over 55 percent backing in states like Idaho and Alabama. This illustrates a strong regional divide in public opinion and legal outcomes.
