Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that Americans are increasingly weary of the Russia-Ukraine war and concerned about the limits of U.S. global commitments. The statement was made on X.

“Putin & Zelensky: Americans have tired of your war,” said Cortes. “Even armed forces as vast as America’s cannot be everywhere, nor can our debt-laden nation afford multiple massive global commitments at once. My newest, with POLLING…”

U.S. public opinion on involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 2025 has become increasingly divided, with growing debate over the scope and cost of military aid. According to the Pew Research Center, roughly one-third of Americans now say the U.S. is giving too much support to Ukraine, while about another third believe the current level is appropriate and the rest think it is not enough. This reflects deepening ambivalence and partisan divides over foreign intervention.

A June 2025 Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that 62 percent of Americans support continued U.S. military aid to Ukraine, with the strongest backing among Democrats at 71 percent, followed by 59 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of independents, as reported by the Ukrainian World Congress.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the proposed defense budget for 2025 reached nearly $850 billion, up from $721 billion in 2020. This increase reflects expanded global military commitments. Wikipedia data shows this keeps U.S. defense spending at about 3.4 percent of GDP, a rise from 3.3 percent five years ago, highlighting expanded investment in global security.
