Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that prosecutions should focus on those involved in the Russia election interference investigation. He praised Ed Martin’s willingness to seek justice at the Department of Justice. The statement was made on X.

“Want prosecutions against the Team Obama perpetrators of the Russia Hoax against Pres Trump,” said Cortes. “Be grateful, Eagle Ed Martin is at the DOJ and ready to find the truth and punish criminals!”

The Russia investigation has been a point of contention, with recent attention on prosecutions and allegations of misconduct by officials from the Obama administration, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. Special Counsel John Durham’s inquiry, completed in 2023, examined the origins of the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe. This resulted in only one conviction—a guilty plea by a former FBI lawyer for altering an email—and two acquittals, leading to partisan debate over the investigation’s handling. Congressional Republicans have accused former Obama administration officials of improper surveillance and politicized law enforcement; however, no widespread prosecutorial misconduct has been proven.

According to a 2023 summary from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Durham investigation led to three prosecutions: former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith pleaded guilty to falsifying evidence, while Michael Sussmann and Igor Danchenko were acquitted at trial. The DOJ’s internal watchdog previously identified “serious errors” in the FBI’s Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant process but found no political bias driving the probe.

A 2023 Pew Research Center survey revealed that public attitudes toward the Russia investigation remain sharply divided along partisan lines, with 68% of Republicans viewing it as politically motivated compared to 15% of Democrats. Over time, belief in the fairness of the Russia probe has declined among all groups, and legal actions involving principal figures such as James Comey and Michael Flynn continue to fuel political polarization.
