The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has announced the establishment of a new Foreign Policy Initiative, with Ambassador Carla Sands appointed as chair. The initiative aims to promote America’s interests internationally by reinforcing diplomatic, trade, and security alliances.

Ambassador Sands will lead efforts to uphold America First principles on the global stage. Her responsibilities include enhancing American security and prosperity while reducing globalism’s influence across U.S. interagency operations. She will also focus on national security strategies prioritizing American citizens. The initiative features a group of former U.S. ambassadors committed to fostering a sovereignty-focused approach among international allies.

Before assuming her current role, Ambassador Sands was Vice Chair for Energy & Environment at AFPI. Her previous roles include Chairman & CEO of Vintage Capital Group and U.S. Ambassador to Denmark during the Trump Administration. At AFPI, she has advocated for American energy dominance and technological advancements in energy innovation.

Greg Sindelar, interim President and CEO of AFPI, commented on her appointment: “Ambassador Sands has been an integral part of the AFPI team since 2022,” adding that her diverse experience makes her well-suited for this leadership position.

Expressing her enthusiasm about the new role, Ambassador Sands stated: “I’m delighted to support the growth of AFPI as chair of the new Foreign Policy Initiative.” She emphasized collaboration with former ambassadors and policy experts in areas like national security, trade, energy, and immigration to establish a sustainable policy framework for future leaders.
