Club for Growth PAC announced on Mar. 11 that Rep. Kevin Hern is leading Governor Kevin Stitt and Rep. Stephanie Bice in a new poll for Oklahoma’s Republican Senate primary. The poll shows Hern with 52 percent support compared to Stitt’s 40 percent in a hypothetical matchup, and Hern with 49 percent against Bice’s 37 percent in another head-to-head scenario.
The results are significant as they provide an early look at potential candidates’ standings ahead of the race to replace Sen. Markwayne Mullin, who has been nominated by former President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Homeland Security.
According to excerpts from NOTUS’ daily newsletter, both Stitt and Bice are considering bids for the seat. The poll was conducted on behalf of Club for Growth and surveyed 510 likely Republican primary voters in Oklahoma, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
The report also notes that two sources told Reese Gorman, who covered the results exclusively for NOTUS, that Hern is expected to announce his run for Senate on Wednesday.
As the field develops, observers will be watching closely how these early polling numbers influence decisions by potential candidates and shape the upcoming primary contest.
