The Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, Pablo José Hernández Rivera, and his wife, attorney Mónica Pascual, have announced the birth of their son, Vicente Rafael Hernández Pascual. The child was born on January 28, 2026, at 9:17 a.m. in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Both mother and child are reported to be in good health.

“Mónica and I are incredibly excited about the change and hope that has come into our lives. We are grateful for all the prayers and support we have received from doctors, nurses, family members, and friends throughout this process,” Hernández Rivera said.

Mónica Pascual commented: “There are no words to describe the emotion of holding him in my arms. We are filled with love and gratitude, and very excited for what lies ahead.”

The couple named their son after his great-grandfathers, Adrián Vicente Mercado and Rafael Hernández Colón. They expressed appreciation for the well-wishes they have received and requested privacy as they begin this new stage as a family.

Hernández Rivera stated he will take three weeks of paternity leave to spend time with his wife and newborn son in Puerto Rico. During this period, he plans to work remotely from home and his district office. The Office of the Resident Commissioner will continue its operations without interruption; offices in Washington, D.C., and Caguas will remain open to serve constituents.
