President Donald Trump announced on Mar. 25 the appointments of several individuals to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). The council will be co-chaired by David Sacks and Michael Kratsios.

The new appointees include Marc Andreessen, Sergey Brin, Safra Catz, Michael Dell, Jacob DeWitte, Fred Ehrsam, Larry Ellison, David Friedberg, Jensen Huang, John Martinis, Bob Mumgaard, Lisa Su, and Mark Zuckerberg.

According to the announcement, PCAST under President Trump will focus on topics related to the opportunities and challenges that emerging technologies present to the American workforce. The goal is to ensure that all Americans can thrive in what was described as the Golden Age of Innovation.

The council may have up to 24 members. Officials said additional members will be appointed soon along with details about the council’s first meeting.

Since its inception by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 as a Science Advisory Board, each president has established his own version of an advisory committee composed of scientists, engineers, and industry leaders.
