Steve Cortes, president of the League of American Workers, said Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh faces significant challenges as he succeeds Jerome Powell.
“Washington’s worst job. Kevin Warsh walks into a buzzsaw as he inherits a mess from corrupt, dishonest, failed Jerome Powell,” Cortes wrote in a May 27 post on X. “Can Chairman Kevin restore Fed credibility and fight resurgent inflation?”
Cortes made the statement in a post about the Federal Reserve leadership transition. His comments focused on inflation, public confidence in the Fed, and the challenges facing Warsh as he begins his tenure.
Dallas Fed researchers said high inflation can disproportionately affect low-income households because they spend a larger share of their income on necessities such as food, gas, and rent. The researchers also said lower-income households have fewer ways to adjust spending when prices rise.
The Joint Economic Committee Republicans reported in September 2024 that prices had risen faster than multiple measures of income since January 2021. The report said the trend reduced purchasing power for working families.
The League of American Workers is a conservative advocacy organization focused on pro-worker policies. Cortes founded the organization in 2022 and previously served as senior adviser and national spokesman for President Donald Trump.
