New Jersey Republicans have chosen Jack Ciattarelli as their candidate for governor, following his decisive victory in the GOP primary on June 10. Ciattarelli won all 21 counties in New Jersey and received 67.8% of the vote.
Ciattarelli is known for his consistent fiscal conservatism. He has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge twice, first during his 2021 campaign and again for the current election cycle. The pledge signifies a commitment to opposing any tax increases.
“I will oppose any and all efforts to increase taxes,” said Ciattarelli.
Americans for Tax Reform praised Ciattarelli’s dedication to shielding New Jersey families from increased taxes and spending, contrasting it with Governor Phil Murphy’s administration.
Ciattarelli plans to address wasteful spending and introduce significant tax reforms if elected. His proposals include capping property taxes based on home values, implementing term limits for state legislators, and establishing a government efficiency department inspired by former President Trump’s administration.
In the upcoming general election, Ciattarelli will compete against Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill. During his victory speech, he referred to Sherrill as “Murphy 2.0.” As New Jersey faces issues like high property taxes and outmigration, voters are presented with distinct choices regarding fiscal policies.
