Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata announced the House Natural Resources Committee’s unanimous approval of a bipartisan bill she cosponsored, H.R. 3858, known as the Sport Fish Restoration, Recreational Boating Safety, and Wildlife Restoration Act of 2025. The bill was introduced by Congresswoman Debbie Dingell from Michigan and has nine cosponsors, including Amata. It now awaits consideration by the full House.
The committee passed a total of 12 bills focusing on conservation issues, outdoor recreation, and firefighter support. “I’m happy to cosponsor this bipartisan effort to better support a wide range of outdoor activities while promoting healthy wildlife habitat,” said Congresswoman Amata. She also thanked Congresswoman Dingell for her leadership.
The legislation aims to enhance America’s outdoor recreation economy by reauthorizing and reforming the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund. This involves amending the Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Act to improve restoration efforts and boating safety.
Since its inception in 1950, the Trust Fund has been instrumental in supporting projects related to fisheries, habitat restoration, boating access infrastructure, and aquatic education.
