The Heritage Foundation has announced that Theodore Wold, who previously served as Idaho solicitor general and U.S. assistant attorney general, has joined the organization as a visiting fellow for law and technology. He will be part of the Center for Technology and the Human Person.
Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action for America, expressed his enthusiasm about Wold’s appointment: “Theo Wold is one of the fiercest legal minds in the conservative movement—a warrior against the lawless administrative state and a trusted defender of the everyday American. From serving President Trump to challenging corporate overreach in Idaho, he brings exactly the kind of bold, unapologetic leadership we need at Heritage.”
Wold shared his thoughts on joining The Heritage Foundation: “Under the leadership of Kevin Roberts, Heritage has positioned itself as a leading defender of the Trump administration and the policies that are Making America Great Again. I’m delighted to join this effort and I’m keen to bring my experience to help shape conservative policy around technology, law, and national security.”
In his new role at The Heritage Foundation, Wold will focus on providing legal and technical expertise on various issues including state enforcement against Big Tech abuses, antitrust actions against Big Tech’s anticompetitive practices, free speech considerations related to online child safety and anti-censorship legislation, as well as regulation of emerging technologies at both state and federal levels. Additionally, he writes on national security topics with an emphasis on immigration policy and judicial matters.
Wesley Hodges, acting director of The Center for Technology and the Human Person at The Heritage Foundation stated: “Theo is leading the charge to align tech innovation with American values. We’re grateful he’s bringing his expertise to Heritage to fight for technology that serves the well-being, productivity, and security of everyday Americans.”
Currently serving as senior counselor at Palantir before joining The Heritage Foundation, Wold has held positions such as director of the Administrative State Project at Claremont Institute; assistant attorney general in DOJ’s Office of Legal Policy; deputy assistant to President Donald Trump for domestic policy during Trump’s first term; and solicitor general of Idaho.
