Congressmen Brett Guthrie and Bob Latta have announced a hearing to examine the oversight of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The hearing, titled “Oversight of FERC: Advancing Affordable and Reliable Energy for All Americans,” will take place on February 3, 2026, at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Chairmen Guthrie and Latta highlighted FERC’s role in ensuring access to reliable and affordable electricity and natural gas. They emphasized the importance of efficient permitting for interstate natural gas pipelines to support community energy needs. The hearing aims to discuss strengthening the electric grid, increasing resources for advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence infrastructure, and reducing costs for families.
Commissioner Lindsay See from FERC is expected to testify on efforts to enhance energy reliability, affordability, and regulatory certainty amid growing electricity demand. She will address lessons learned from events like Winter Storm Fern and highlight initiatives such as improved winterization and gas-electric coordination.
The hearing will be open to the public and livestreamed online at energycommerce.house.gov. For inquiries about the event or press-related questions, contact Seth Ricketts or Ben Mullany via email.
