Freedom 250 announced it will host a national Memorial Day Candlelight Tribute at Arlington National Cemetery on May 25, 2026. The event, part of America’s 250th anniversary observances, is described as an evening of storytelling and service honoring men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States.
The program will feature a special appearance and performance by Grammy Award-winning country music artist Gretchen Wilson. According to Wilson, “I am overwhelmed to have been asked to honor the fallen heroes and their families this Memorial Day. What a sacred place, I pray I do it justice.”
Set against the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, the evening will include storytelling, music, remembrance, and reflection. Members of the public, veterans, military families, and visitors from across the country are invited to attend. The program will honor Medal of Honor recipient Captain Humbert “Rocky” Versace and Captain Daniel W. Eggers for their service and sacrifice.
Veteran and national security leader Jason Beardsley said, “Memorial Day is about more than remembrance. It is about preserving the legacy of those who gave everything for this country and ensuring future generations understand the true cost of freedom.” Other speakers include Major General Patrick Henry Brady, historian Dr. Mark Moyar, and members of the Eggers family.
Doors open at 6:00 PM Eastern Time with programming commencing at 8:30 PM and concluding at 10:00 PM. Media interested in attending may apply for credentials by May 20, 2026.
Freedom 250 describes itself as a non-partisan organization leading efforts to commemorate America’s 250th birthday through events that honor history and national spirit. More information can be found on the organization’s website.
