Freedom 250 announced on Sunday, May 17, that Americans from across the nation will gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for Rededicate 250, a national faith event marking America’s 250th anniversary. The event is scheduled to take place from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time and will feature a day-long program of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.
The initiative was originally introduced by President Donald J. Trump during remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast. Trump described Rededicate 250 as “a national moment of prayer and unity,” inviting Americans “from all across the country to come together on our National Mall to pray, give thanks, and rededicate America as One Nation Under God” as the country approaches its Semiquincentennial.
The day’s events will begin at sunrise before the United States Capitol with worship and expressions of gratitude for what organizers describe as God’s influence over the nation’s history. The main stage at 12th Street on the National Mall will host prominent artists, faith leaders, public servants, worship artists, choirs, and invited national participants throughout the day.
Vince Haley, Director of the Domestic Policy Council of the United States, said according to Freedom 250: “Rededicate 250 is a once-in-a-lifetime national faith event that will remind Americans of how God has powerfully shaped our nation and its people over the past 250 years. Through Scripture and testimony, music and worship, Americans will be invited to recognize the unmistakable hand of God at work in our national life, seek God’s blessing for the next 250 years, and solemnly rededicate our country as One Nation Under God.”
The event is expected to be broadcast nationwide through media coverage and livestreams directed at churches and partner organizations. In advance of May 17th, a series featuring pastors and partners will highlight faith’s role in American history and civic life.
Freedom 250 describes itself as a non-partisan organization leading celebrations for America’s Semiquincentennial by working with federal agencies such as White House Task Force 250. More information about participation or partnership opportunities can be found according to the official roster page.
