Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, has criticized green energy programs as wasteful and unable to meet U.S. energy demands, claiming they disproportionately benefit China. This statement was made on the social media platform X as he previewed his new documentary.

“A great start! The Green scam is a giant, expensive waste,” said Cortes. “It cannot possibly meet our Energy needs, especially in the AI era — and its expressly benefits China! See my doc preview below, it premieres tomorrow morning!”

Recent federal decisions regarding green energy funding in the United States have become a point of contention. Some initiatives by the Biden administration, such as grants for solar and battery projects, have been reduced or delayed due to concerns about costs and grid reliability. According to The Wall Street Journal, these changes in 2024 have sparked a heated debate in Congress about the future of climate policy and clean energy investments. Critics are questioning how to balance economic priorities with environmental goals.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, investment in U.S. green energy reached $330 billion in 2023, supporting nearly 3.3 million jobs across sectors like wind, solar, and battery storage. These investments have reportedly delivered significant economic benefits by creating new jobs and spurring growth in both urban and rural areas nationwide.

Data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) show that renewables accounted for 21% of U.S. electricity generation in 2023, while natural gas and coal combined for about 61%. The EIA notes that rising demand from artificial intelligence (AI) applications and data centers is increasing pressure on the grid, reigniting debate over balancing green and traditional energy sources.
