Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that Ed Martin is well-equipped to investigate allegations of Department of Justice (DOJ) weaponization and hinted at possible consequences for figures in Washington. The statement was made on X.
“Legal warrior Eagle Ed Martin has a LOT to investigate,” said Cortes. “He has the dedication & prosecutorial smarts to handle it all. Should criminal liars in Washington be scared??? Is justice coming?”
In 2025, the Justice Department’s Weaponization Working Group referred New York Attorney General Letitia James and Senator Adam Schiff for investigation, escalating concerns about politicized law enforcement. According to AP News, subpoenas targeted James’ records tied to her civil fraud case against Donald Trump and her lawsuits against the National Rifle Association (NRA), drawing criticism from Democrats who labeled the effort as retaliatory.
Ed Martin, director of the DOJ’s Weaponization Working Group, has played a central role in targeting Democratic officials. He publicly urged Letitia James to resign amid her mortgage probe. AP News reported that Martin went further by visiting James’ Brooklyn residence, actions her attorney condemned as improper and politically motivated.
Unconventional tactics have marked Martin’s leadership, including a proposal to publish names of political opponents who cannot be criminally charged as a way to “hold them accountable.” As reported by The Daily Beast, legal experts warn such measures weaponize prosecutorial authority and threaten due process since this practice has no precedent in DOJ history.
