Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said that Democratic senators’ support for Medicaid coverage for undocumented immigrants reflects a consistent pattern of advocacy for such policies. The statement was made on X.

“Dems will go to war for illegals,” said Cortes. “Then again, they love war for just about any reason, from Iraq to Ukraine…but they REALLY love fighting for aliens who’ve trespassed into our country…”

In June 2025, the U.S. Senate narrowly voted against expanding Medicaid eligibility to undocumented immigrants. According to The Wall Street Journal, the debate centered on costs, access, and border policy. The vote followed strict party lines and sparked intense partisan arguments about the future of public health care coverage.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, approximately 12% of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. access emergency Medicaid. However, the majority remain ineligible for standard benefits due to citizenship restrictions, resulting in lower usage rates than citizens.

The Congressional Research Service reports that in the past five years, nearly 90% of Democratic senators supported expanded health care for non-citizens while more than 95% of Republicans opposed such measures, reflecting a strong partisan divide.

Cortes is also a senior political advisor to CatholicVote and a former senior advisor to President Trump and JD Vance. He has been a commentator for Fox News and CNN and regularly releases documentaries and columns at cortesinvestigates.com.

According to its official site, the League of American Workers was established in 2022 to represent working-class Americans, advocating for strict immigration controls and health care policies that prioritize citizens.
