Steve Cortes, Founder of the League of American Workers, has expressed concern over rising bond yields worldwide, suggesting they signal a dangerous situation for the United States. He noted that few in Washington appear worried about national debt levels. Cortes made this statement on X.

“Bond markets become a global problem,” said Cortes. “The situation for America is especially dangerous, and almost no one in Washington seems concerned. Bonds are “nervous” about Debt levels.”

Global bond market volatility has increased in 2025 amid growing concerns over the size of U.S. federal debt, as reported by Business Insider. The U.S. debt has reached approximately $37 trillion, raising anxiety about government borrowing costs and prompting fears of crowding out private investment. Analysts indicate that political debate over Federal Reserve policy and uncertainty about fiscal discipline have added to investor unease, leading to heightened swings in Treasury yields and global bond prices.

According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, as of July 2025, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield is around 4.5%, while the 30-year Treasury yield stands near 4.86%. These rates have remained elevated throughout the year, reflecting persistent fiscal worries and reduced foreign appetite for U.S. government debt. Higher yields translate to increased borrowing costs for both the government and economy.

Reuters reports that long-term government bond yields in Germany and Japan have risen since 2023. German 30-year bond yields recently reached approximately 3.25%, marking their highest level since before the pandemic due to increased issuance meeting tepid demand. In Japan, 20- and 30-year government bond yields hit two-decade highs in July 2025 following shifts in central bank policy and global rate pressures.

Cortes is also a senior political advisor to CatholicVote and a former senior advisor to President Trump and JD Vance. He is known for his commentary on Fox News and CNN and regularly releases documentaries and columns at cortesinvestigates.com.

The League of American Workers was founded by Cortes in 2022 with a mission to advocate for pro-worker policies and labor reforms, according to its website. The organization aims to elevate the interests of American workers through research, policy proposals, and public engagement, focusing on issues such as wage stagnation, labor market reforms, and economic opportunity for U.S. workers.
