A coalition of Christian leaders, including the Family Research Council (FRC), is calling on churches across the United States to participate in an event titled “Pray For & Stand With Israel” on Sunday, May 19. The initiative encourages congregations to dedicate part of their worship services that day to pray for Israel’s peace, prosperity, and protection.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, described his recent visit to Israel where he met with survivors of the October 7 attack and family members of hostages. He also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during this trip.

“During a recent visit to Israel, where I met with survivors of the October 7 attack and family members of the hostages, I also had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and engage in discussions regarding the current challenges facing the nation. Among the many topics discussed, Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed an urgent need for Americans who support Israel to visibly show their support. We discussed the importance of solidarity and prayer as powerful expressions of support that can make a meaningful difference in the relationship between the United States and Israel,” Perkins said.

He continued: “It is abundantly clear that in light of the challenges and complexities facing Israel–both politically and spiritually–it is imperative that we, as leaders within the Christian community, come together to demonstrate our unwavering support for Israel anchored in the word of God. With this goal in mind, I propose that we call upon Bible-believing churches nationwide to pray for and stand with Israel collectively on Sunday, May 19, by dedicating a portion of their Sunday services to pray for Israel’s peace, prosperity, and protection.”

Other leaders supporting this initiative include Michele Bachmann from Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast; Mario Bramnick from Latino Coalition for Israel; Dr. Tim Clinton from American Association of Christian Counselors; Chad Connelly from Faith Wins; Craig DeRoche from Family Policy Alliance; Carlos Duran from National Hispanic Pastors Alliance; Jentezen Franklin from Free Chapel; Dr. Jack Graham from Prestonwood Baptist Church; Gary Hamrick from Cornerstone Chapel; Jack Hibbs from Calvary Chapel Chino Hills; Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church; Chris Hodges from Church of the Highlands; Cindy Jacobs from Generals International; Robert Morris from Gateway Church; and Tim Wildmon from American Family Association.
