The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has announced that Juan Ciscomani repeatedly voted to raise costs on Arizona farmers and ranchers. The DCCC said Ciscomani supported tariffs, opposed health care tax credits, and did not speak out against beef import proposals.

The issue is significant because many Arizona farmers and ranchers rely on affordable equipment, fuel, export markets, and health care coverage. According to the DCCC, these votes could impact the agricultural economy in the state.

The DCCC said that Ciscomani voted twice last month to protect tariffs that increase prices for farm equipment, fertilizer, and fuel. The committee also said he voted for similar legislation last year. In addition, the DCCC said Ciscomani stayed silent when the administration proposed importing Argentinian beef, which some cattle ranchers in Arizona oppose.

According to Lindsay Reilly, a spokesperson for the DCCC: “Juan Ciscomani is trying to gaslight Arizonans into thinking he supports farmers and ranchers. In reality, Ciscomani repeatedly voted to raise costs on everything from farm equipment to fertilizer to fuel, slash export markets, and kick countless farmers off their health care. Not to mention Ciscomani stayed silent when the Administration proposed undercutting Arizona ranchers by importing foreign beef. Either Ciscomani doesn’t pay attention, or he just doesn’t care.”

The DCCC also said that Ciscomani voted against extending Affordable Care Act tax credits that benefit many farmers and ranchers who depend on marketplace coverage.
