The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has raised concerns regarding recent cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs, stating that more than 14,000 medical positions have been eliminated. The committee said this reduction could impact veterans’ access to health care.

The DCCC said that Eli Crane has not addressed these developments publicly. The organization referenced a report from the New York Times indicating a “severe shortage” of doctors in 90 percent of VA departments, with most vacancies occurring since the beginning of the Trump administration. According to the DCCC, “critical cancer research stalled due to extreme DOGE cuts that Crane supported.”

The committee questioned why Crane has not taken action on behalf of his district or spoken out about protecting veterans’ health care access. The DCCC also said that Crane has previously voted for what it described as “the single largest cut to Medicaid in history,” which it called a critical resource for many veterans in his district.

Additionally, the DCCC said that veteran unemployment has increased significantly during Crane’s tenure. The organization concluded by emphasizing its view that Arizona veterans deserve answers regarding these issues.
