Congresswoman Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen welcomed representatives from the American Samoa Department of Health and the Department of Homeland Security during their visit to the U.S. Capitol on March 12.
The visit provided an opportunity for local officials from American Samoa to engage with federal lawmakers and discuss their priorities. The delegation from the Department of Health included Dr. Aifili John Tufa, Ms. Annie Noa, Mrs. Emma Reid-Alo, Langahelotu Vivao, Mr. Francis Vivao, Dr. Anaise Uso, as well as several family members.
During their time in Washington, D.C., the health department representatives toured the U.S. Capitol with Congresswoman Amata’s staff, visited her congressional office, and shared lunch with her on Capitol Hill. Later that day, a group from the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security—Meshake Gaisoa, Jolene Mageo Kava, and Sharma Sapolu—also visited.
“Thank you to all these dedicated professionals for taking time to visit, and sharing their priorities. I appreciate their efforts this week in DC, and especially all their work to deliver the best possible services back home,” said Congresswoman Amata.
The meetings highlighted ongoing collaboration between federal representatives and local agencies in American Samoa as they work together on issues related to health and security.
