Congressman Brett Guthrie and Congressman Morgan Griffith have announced a second hearing in their series focused on making healthcare more affordable for Americans. The upcoming session, titled “Lowering Health Care Costs for All Americans: An Examination of the Prescription Drug Supply Chain,” will be held on February 11, 2026, at the Rayburn House Office Building. The event is part of a broader effort by Republicans to address the cost of healthcare.
Chairmen Guthrie and Griffith said, “This marks the second hearing in our health care affordability series, confirming Republicans’ commitment to meaningfully lowering the cost of care for American families.” They emphasized the importance of involving representatives from all parts of the prescription drug supply chain to explore solutions for keeping drug costs accessible and affordable.
Chester “Chip” Davis Jr., President and CEO of the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), will provide testimony during this hearing. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present the pharmaceutical distribution industry’s perspective on healthcare affordability. Davis highlighted that distributors play a crucial role in ensuring medicines are delivered efficiently and securely from manufacturers to patients. He noted that HDA members handle about 96% of medicines dispensed in the U.S., connecting numerous manufacturers with thousands of care sites.
Davis also pointed out that distributors help streamline operations for healthcare providers by reducing administrative burdens and enhancing efficiency. He urged policymakers to consider reforms that maintain supply chain efficiency while addressing challenges faced by providers regarding reimbursement levels.
The hearing will be open to both public and press attendees and can be viewed via livestream at energycommerce.house.gov.
