The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law held an event at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C. on March 29, bringing together legal scholars, students, and community members for an evening focused on international academic collaboration.
The gathering highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen connections between the university and Polish institutions. Maria Łojas-Zielińska, Cultural Counselor at the embassy, opened with remarks about the importance of these partnerships. Professor Megan La Belle welcomed attendees on behalf of Catholic Law.
Professor Christopher S. Ross provided an update on the CSL-JU program, emphasizing its role in building opportunities for international legal education through cooperation between Catholic Law and Jagiellonian University. The event also included a tribute by Professor Emerita Leah Wortham to Professor Emeritus Rett R. Ludwikowski, who founded the International Business and Trade Summer Law Program in 1991 to foster collaboration between U.S. and Polish legal communities during a period of significant change.
A concert by the Cracow Duo—cellist Jan Kalinowski and pianist Marek Szlezer—was featured as part of the celebration, followed by a networking reception that allowed guests to connect further.
Organizers announced that another major event is planned: The United States and Central & Eastern Europe Connection Weekend will take place June 12-13 at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. Registration details are available at usacee.com/en/.
