Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata announced a grant of $830,662 for the American Samoa Department of Health (ASDOH) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding is provided through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The grant originates from the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) and is intended to cover initiatives in the upcoming year. This is part of a larger five-year project based on ASDOH’s grant application.
“Thank you to Yolanda Masunu for her work surrounding this grant, and everyone at ASDOH involved in obtaining federal funds and important preventative efforts for our people,” said Congresswoman Amata. “Congratulations to Health Director Dr. Saipale Fuimaono, and thank you, for the second announcement in a week, for this support from HHS and CDC.”
The primary focus of this grant is to enhance vaccine distribution and prevention measures within American Samoa.
