The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has announced Brett Tolman’s appointment as Chair for Law & Justice. Tolman, who has extensive experience in criminal justice and government reform, previously served as the Chair for AFPI’s Weaponization of Government Initiative. In his new role, he will focus on enhancing safety and security in communities across the nation.

Tolman is known for his legal analysis on Fox News and other media platforms. His background includes serving as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Utah and Chief Counsel for Crime and Terrorism to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also holds the position of Executive Director of Right on Crime at the Texas Public Policy Foundation since 2021.

Tolman emphasized the importance of impartial justice, stating, “The rule of law is the backbone of a free society—but today, it is bending under the weight of politics and selective enforcement.” He expressed concerns about the weaponization of the justice system and overcriminalization, which he believes threaten liberty. “Restoring integrity to our criminal justice system is imperative,” Tolman added.

Chad Wolf, AFPI Executive Vice President, praised Tolman’s expertise: “Brett’s experience and insights, in addition to the work he has already done for our Weaponization of Government Initiative, make him an invaluable addition to the Law & Justice team.”
