Adam Thierer, a resident senior fellow at R Street’s Tech & Innovation team, appeared on the podcast “In AI We Trust?” hosted by Miriam Vogel and Nuala O’Connor. During the episode, Thierer discussed several aspects of artificial intelligence policy in the United States.
He commented on the Trump Administration’s AI Action Plan and highlighted the significant role Congress plays in shaping policies for artificial intelligence. Thierer also addressed how current legal principles and practices are being used to help define the emerging digital and AI era.
A major focus of the conversation was on improving public understanding of AI. The group discussed the need for greater AI literacy among consumers and end users. They also emphasized that regulation of AI technologies should be clear and trustworthy so that people can understand how these systems affect them.
Thierer said, “They focused on the mandate for AI literacy, as well as the necessity of AI technologies being regulated in a transparent and trustworthy way that end users, and particularly consumers, can understand.”
